Naomie Harris & Tyrese Gibson pursue corrupt cops in Black and Blue trailer

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Screen Gems has debuted a trailer for BLACK AND BLUE, a timely action crime drama that's bound to turn a few heads. Directed by TRAFFIK and MEET THE BLACK helmer Deon Taylor, BLACK AND BLUE tells the story a rookie cop (Naomie Harris) who inadvertently captures the murder of a young drug dealer on her body cam. After realizing that the murder was committed by corrupt cops, she teams up with the one person from her community who is willing to help her (Tyrese Gibson) as she tries to escape both the criminals out for revenge and the police who are desperate to destroy the incriminating evidence.

With a screenplay penned by FLIGHTPLAN and SACRAFICE writer Peter A. Dowling, Taylor's latest feature also stars Reid Scott (VEEP, THE BIG C), Beau Knapp (SEVEN SECONDS, DEATH WISH), Nafessa Williams (BLACK LIGHTNING, TWIN PEAKS), Frank Grillo (BOSS LEVEL, POINT BREAK), and Marvel's LUKE CAGE star Mike Colter.

On the production end of the spectrum, Sean Sorensen will produce, with Joshua Throne and Roxanne Taylor serving as executive producers.

There's something rather unsettling about the premise of BLACK AND BLUE, and perhaps that's because portions of the plot ring a little too close to home as law enforcement officials continue to grapple with the idea of their words and actions being recorded at all times. With some solid chemistry from Harris and Gibson, and intimidating performances from the project's criminal cast, BLACK AND BLUE looks as if it could strike a nerve or two when it hits theaters on October 25. 2019.
