THE PREDATOR begins the hunt next month, so expect a lot more from the marketing department as that countdown begins, including this new, bloody TV spot. Featuring a new track from Tom Morello's upcoming album, THE PREDATOR slices and dices his way around Boyd Holbrook's team of misfits before encountering the new "ultimate" Predator, which thus far has created a mixed bag of reactions. Having seen this thing in action at Comic Con I'm still not entirely convinced (or dissuaded) that it's up to snuff, but I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised. That said, even if the monster stuff falls short, it appears that the characters and interactions are ripe with Shane Black's voice (the scene with Holbrook's team and Olivia Munn at Comic-Con was superb) and that may well be the biggest selling point for the film, strangely enough.
In addition to the new spot, you can also pick up tickets now, if that's your bag and it was just announced that the film will screen at Midnight Madness at TIFF this year, which shows at least a little confidence in the product. My overall feeling on the film has been one of hype, mixed with anxiety. I desperately want this movie to be awesome, but my faith isn't as strong as I'd like it to be at this point in time. That said, I'm seeing it no matter what, so regardless of anything, that's at least one ticket sold.
