Patrick Wilson and Matthew Fox join crazy horror-western Bone Tomahawk

There has not been much in the way of news surrounding the film BONE TOMAHAWK since 2012 when Richard Jenkins joined the cast headed by Kurt Russell, but now it appears that S. Craig Zahler’s film is finally moving forward. The Hollywood Reports reports that Patrick Wilson and Matthew Fox have joined the cast of what sounds like the most batshit crazy movie we have seen in a long time.

Zehler has worked primarily as a screenwriter and cinematographer for several years now with only his script for THE INCIDENT being produced back in 2011. He also has a script for THE BRIGANDS OF RATTLEBORGE which Park Chan-wook was looking to direct. He was also linked to the ROBOTECH movie as screenwriter, but BONE TOMAHAWK will represent his directorial debut.

In BONE TOMAHAWK, four men attempt to rescue a group of captives from a band of cannibalistic troglodytes that live beyond the edge of civilization.

While the film is described as a western, it is unknown if this will be post-apocalyptic in nature or truly set in the 1800s. Either way, Richard Jenkins, Fox, Wilson, and Kurt Russell is a damn fine cast. Patrick Wilson is set to play Arthur O’Dwyer, previously set to be played by Peter Sarsgaard, “a driven and thoughtful cowboy whose rise to the foreman position of a cattle outfit is interrupted by an unfortunate accident that reshapes his life in unforeseen ways.” Matthew Fox will take over as John Brooder, a role once linked to Timothy Olyphant, who is “the eloquent, albeit inscrutable gentleman whose dark inclinations have put him and his polished weapons at the very edge of the western frontier.”

There is no set release date for BONE TOMAHAWK, but production is expected to get underway soon for a potential release next year. Stay tuned for more details as this sounds like a film to keep an eye on.
