Peter Jackson produced Mortal Engines casts its leads

I love Peter Jackson – from DEAD ALIVE to LORD OF THE RINGS – the man is talented as f*ck. Even his misses (like LOVELY BONES and THE HOBBIT) have awesome stuff in them. That is all to say that I'm excited-as-balls about his upcoming film, MORTAL ENGINES, described by Variety as "set thousands of years in the future, Earth’s cities now roam the globe on huge wheels, devouring each other in a struggle over diminishing resources. On one of these massive Traction Cities, Tom Natsworthy has an unexpected encounter with a mysterious young woman from the Outlands, who will change the course of his life forever." And while Jackson is not directing the picture (that duty belongs to long-time VFX artist Christian Rivers), Jackson is cowriting and producing it, so that's enough for me.

And, most importantly, it has cast its two male leads! Robert Sheehan (GEOSTORM) will play the lead role, while Ronan Raftery (FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM) will play his best friend. Won't pretend I know who these people are, but if their casting means it's getting closer to me seeing  literal moving cities fight each other, then I'm game.

But what do you Schmoes think? Anyone read MORTAL ENGINES? If so, do you think these blokes fill out the roles well?

Either way, MORTAL ENGINES is set to rev up December 14th, 2018.
