Robert Z’Dar and Linnea Quigley help tell A Blood Story

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Among the several genre greats we've lost so far this year is MANIAC COP star Robert Z'Dar, who passed away in March at age 64. One of Z'Dar's final films was writer/director Joe Hollow's A BLOOD STORY, which has just been released to DVD and VOD by Maxim Media Entertainment/Brain Damage Films.

Described as a "boundary pushing mix of erotica and horror",

A Blood Story centers on the discovery of the legendary Fountain of Youth and the awaking of a centuries old demon that unleashes upon the guests of a nearby villa, subjecting them to unspeakable acts of depravity, perversion and murder.

Z'Dar plays the appropriately nicknamed character Gerry the Jaw, and was joined in the cast by Mindy Robinson, Camden Toy, Mark Hanson, Debra Lamb, Melanie Robel, and legendary scream queen Linnea Quigley.

Watching the trailer, you can clearly tell that the film didn't have much of a budget to work with. Hollow acknowledges that this was the lowest budgeted film he has made yet, but despite the limitations and the fact that it was shot on a schedule of just ten days, he feels that, thanks to the efforts of his tightknit cast and crew, they achieved exactly what they wanted to with A BLOOD STORY.

"Z'Dar and Quigley" is really all I needed to hear. Casting those two in a movie is a pretty foolproof way to get me to check it out. I was saddened by the loss of Z'Dar, so I might have to give this one a memorial viewing in his honor.

A BLOOD STORY is available now, right here.
