SPOILER ALERT if you’re not up to date on the Saw franchise. After seemingly telling the final chapter of Jigsaw’s legacy with Saw 3D in 2010, the horror franchise went on to receive several revivals, first with Jigsaw in 2017 and again with Spiral: From the Book of Saw earlier this year. You can’t keep a good villain down as Spiral co-writer Josh Stolberg took to Twitter to announce that he’s putting the finishing touches on a new Saw sequel that will make fans of John Kramer very happy.

Given that John Kramer died in Saw III fifteen years ago, it’s all the more impressive that they’ve been able to keep him involved in the subsequent sequels. Sure, John Kramer was seen less and less as time went on, with his appearance in Spiral: From the Book of Saw amounting to a photograph, but short of resurrecting him, there’s not a lot you can do about it. Josh Stolberg’s comment that the Spiral/Saw sequel will make John Kramer fans very happy has some believing that Tobin Bell’s Jigsaw will have some part to play in the sequel. Personally, the gruesome traps always played second fiddle to Bell’s performance, and if there’s some way to involve him in a way that makes sense, go for it.

The official synopsis for Spiral: From the Book of Saw:

A criminal mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in Spiral, the terrifying new chapter from the book of Saw. Working in the shadow of his father, an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.

Spiral: From the Book of Saw was released on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray earlier this year, and you can check out a review of the film from our own Chris Bumbray right here.
