Earlier this year, we told you about Universal optioning the rights to Hasbro’s Stretch Armstrong toy line in order to make a big budget live action feature. If you thought perhaps this particularly insane move was a mere ploy to snatch up the rights before anyone else did and somehow started profiting from a feature adaptation, sorry to say, that’s not the case. They seem pretty serious about bringing ole Stretch to the big screen as they’ve given the feature an April 15th, 2011 release date. This, of course, means that this thing is actually happening. In just about a year and a half, there’ll be a live action STRETCH ARMSTRONG hitting theaters. There’ll be clips, trailers, posters, (God forbid), virals and an entire new line of Stretch toys. And what if it’s a hit? There’ll be sequels! Oy vey!
