Produced by Ridley Scott, the upcoming Netflix release EARTHQUAKE BIRD isn't a horror movie, but the newly released trailer (embedded below) makes the film look dark and unnerving enough that it has caught our attention.

Written and directed by Wash Westmoreland, EARTHQUAKE BIRD is described as a "psychologically unsettling and atmospheric thriller", and it's based on the "haunting" novel by Susanna Jones (you can pick up a copy HERE.)

Set in 1989 Tokyo, the film drops Alicia Vikander, Riley Keough, and Naoki Kobayashi into the story of

Lucy Fly (Vikander), an enigmatic expat haunted by a painful past, who enters into an intense relationship with Teiji (Kobayashi), a handsome local photographer. Lucy’s imperturbable exterior begins to crack when a naive newcomer, Lily Bridges (Keough), becomes entangled in their lives and ends up missing – suspected dead.

EARTHQUAKE BIRD will be getting a limited theatrical release on November 1st, and will be available to watch through the Netflix streaming service as of November 15th.

Scott produced the film with Georgina Pope, Michael Pruss, Ann Ruark, and Kevin J. Walsh.
