Review:

Despite starring the consistently boring Steven Seagal, this movie actually turned out to be an enjoyable little action movie. I guess they were calling it “DIE HARD on a boat” in those days, and that’s pretty much what it comes down to (although, obviously not as good or original). Cat & mouse, over-the-top villain, unbelievable circumstances, etc…

The things I liked about this movie were its pace (good set-up), Erika Eleniak’s huge tits, the action pieces, the whole battleship theme, Steven Seagal’s character (the Rambo of the day) and the basic structure of the flick, which takes you through a couple of turns and makes it entertaining, on the whole. I also liked the fact that Seagal himself was skinny back then and didn’t wear those damn kimodos!!

The things I didn’t like about this movie were the fact that they didn’t show Erika Eleniak’s knockers as much as I would have liked, the whole “A-Team” sequence in the movie, where Seagal and crew start taping shit together from the boat and seemingly preparing a counter-attack in less than 3 minutes (c’mon!) and the lack of any real surprise (I would’ve liked to have seen a few more red herrings or at least, some more dangerous moments for Seagal himself). Also, is it me or did there seem to be over 100 bad guys on the ship, and yet when they arrived on the helicopter, there didn’t appear to be more than 20 or so. Whatever, right?!

Tommy Lee Jones was also fun, despite acting with his head-band and did I mention Erika Eleniak (who used to be a Playboy playmate and played a…Playboy playmate in the movie…well, you gotta start somewhere, girl!).

Overall, this movie is a good time and certainly worthy of a late night rental, when bored and wanting to watch something pretty mindless, yet semi-exciting, at the same time.

And yes, even Seagal is passable here, as he doesn’t seem to be pushing his environmental causes or asshole behavior on us. Action, frilly plot, some decent fight sequences, the world vs one guy and Gary Busey as the “bad guy” once again. All in all, pretty okay.
