What an interesting year Will Smith has had. After playing the Genie in Disney's live-action remake of ALADDIN, Smith is set to play a dangerous assassin and his younger clone in GEMINI MAN and will wrap up the year as Lance Sterling, an incredibly suave and bad-ass super-spy who is transformed into a pigeon. I don't even know what to say to that.
Previous trailers for SPIES IN DISGUISE didn't do all that much for me, but the latest trailer for the upcoming film from Blue Sky Studios does seem to offer a better explanation of what the film is about. It's still not quite my cup of tea, but hey, it just might be yours. In addition to Will Smith, SPIES IN DISGUISE also stars Tom Holland as Walter Beckett, a young scientist who transforms Sterling into a pigeon. The film also features the voice-talents of Rashida Jones, Karen Gillan, Ben Mendelsohn, Masi Oka, DJ Khaled, and Reba McEntire.

Super spy Lance Sterling (Will Smith) and scientist Walter Beckett (Tom Holland) are almost exact opposites. Lance is smooth, suave and debonair. Walter is…not. But when events take an unexpected turn, this unlikely duo is forced to team up for the ultimate mission that will require an almost impossible disguise – transforming Lance into the brave, fierce, majestic…pigeon. Walter and Lance suddenly have to work as a team, or the whole world is in peril.
SPIES IN DISGUISE is slated for a December 25, 2019 release.
