Captivity’s MPAA troubles

Last Updated on July 27, 2021

Ah CAPTIVITY, you’re just not satisfied unless everyone’s talking about what a trouble you are… What at first seemed like a publicity stunt gone slightly awry is now threatening to cost the film its release date of May 18, or worse. Last week, CAPTIVITY got a very stern talking-to, when it had to take down its creepy posters of a bound and pretty f*cked-up-looking Elisha Cuthbert (read about that here). Now it’s in further trouble, and is being sent to its room without dinner.

The MPAA is making After Dark Films clear all of its future ads with the board, as well as the actual locations where the ads will appear, which a company has never had to do before. In addition, the ratings process for the movie has been suspended until May 1, which will jeopardize the movie’s release – unless the company decides to push it back or distribute it Unrated, which is very unlikely.

Of course, all of us ’round these parts don’t see what the big deal is, especially when you have posters like Eli Roth’s nasty gooey/meaty HOSTEL 2 poster turning more stomachs. No, this is a big f*ck you to CAPTIVITY, for going with a campaign that the MPAA (a ridiculous organization as it is) gave a thumbs-down to. Now CAPTIVITY is gonna have to put its hands in its pockets, bow its head, and shuffle around pathetically while intermittently saying its sorry and it’ll be good from now on.

(This might all be moot anyway, since our Arrow says the movie stinks like a bag of dirty socks. Check out his review here)

It ain’t no way to treat this lady anyway…
