The great Forest Whitaker has signed on to co-star with Theo James (UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING, UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS) in director David M. Rosenthal's apocalyptic thriller HOW IT ENDS.

Scripted by Brooks McLaren, HOW IT ENDS begins with

a mysterious apocalyptic event that turns the roads into mayhem. A young father will stop at nothing to get home to his pregnant wife on the other side of the country.

It's not clear what sort of mayhem the lead character will find on the road, but that description brings to mind MAD MAX / THE ROAD WARRIOR for me, as well as Cormac McCarthy's THE ROAD. Given the ages of the two actors announced so far, I'm guessing James will be playing the young father.

Filming on HOW IT ENDS is scheduled to begin in Winnipeg, Canada next month. Netflix acquired the worldwide rights to the project back in January, so we can look forward to seeing it on their streaming service.

Developed by Sierra/Affinity and Paul Schiff Productions, the film is being produced by Paul Schiff, Tai Duncan, Kelly McCormick, and Patrick Newall. Nick Meyer and Marc Schaberg serve as executive producers.
