With Gareth Evans doing the press rounds for his latest knock-out punch, THE RAID 2, we can expect to hear his perspective on the impending remake multiple times within the next month or so. What is evident so far (and has been for years, even back when we had him on the AITH Podcast) is that he's fully supportive of the remake, which recently hired on Patrick Hughes to direct. In an odd way, it's kind of refreshing to hear a director sound pumped for the remake of his film; perhaps because it's so rare.

In any event, Evans has obviously given the remake some thought, as evidenced by the fact that he's already got ideas as to who should star in the film (besides the rumored Chris and Liam Hemsworth). Via Crave Online:

It depends right now. Me on a personal level, Id fucking love to see them put Scott Adkins in there. Im just going to say that right off because I just think hes great and Ive wanted to work with him before. For him to be able to get a real, good fucking solid role like that in a studio film where its all about gearing up towards martial arts, something that hes fully capable of, itd be great. Michael Jai White would be great as well, all these guys. I could geek out about all the guys I want to see in these films and hopefully they get a chance.

Evans is also very much in favor of Hughes as the director:

I think what worked for me was the fact that nobody questioned what I wanted to do on that, the same way I dont think anyone should question what Patrick wants to do on that, Evans said. For me, in order for that film to work really well, theyve got to let him go off into his sandbox, play around and see what he comes up with. When they suggested Patrick, I had no problem at all because hes a super talented director. Red Hill, fucking great film. Such a great movie.

In that same interview, Evans lets it be known that THE RAID 3 isn't coming in the near future:

Im not touching The Raid 3 for a couple of years from now. I dont have any plans to do The Raid 3 within the next two or three years so Im going to take a break from that franchise for a bit. I want to do some things outside of Indonesia for like two films, then come back to Indonesia and shoot The Raid 3."

:) Exactly my choice of actors for the remake. Maybe they should also throw Keanu and Statham....as baddies ??
I wonder if Jeff Speakman is still acting ?
