Get Out scores a $30+ million opening weekend!

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

Jordan Peele horror/comedy/social commentary GET OUT managed to take its 100% on Rotten Tomatoes score and turn it into a fantastic $30+ million opening weekend! Specifically, the film gathered $30.5 million, during this past Oscar weekend, in 2,781 theaters with a damn-fine per-screen average of $10,976. Not bad. Not bad at all.

GET OUT still maintains the fuc*ing rare-as-hell 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, along with a respectable 8.1 IMDb rating and an A- on CinemaScore.  To compare, Peele's last film (as actor) KEANU scored $9.4 million in its opening in 2,658 theaters, eventually scoring a rather small $20.6 million domestic. GET OUT blew past that total on its second day of release.

This year's other Blumhouse release SPLIT opened over the January 20-22 weekend and scored a 40+ opening.  That film has since gone on to gather a total of $130+ domestic and $221+ worldwide.

Does this mean GET OUT has the chance to hit such heights as the M. Night flick SPLIT? We'll see how well the film holds up when LOGAN hits next weekend.

Congrats, Blumhouse and Jordan Peele!
