James Franco’s adaptation of the extremely disturbing Cormac McCarthy novel CHILD OF GOD has been acquired by Well Go USA, according to Deadline. The film will be released in 10 cities August 1st, and a VOD/DVD rollout will follow October 28th.

The film focuses on…

Lester Ballad, a dispossessed, violent man who tries to exist outside of the social order. Deprived of parents and housing, his loneliness and despair relegates him to the level of a cave dweller and he falls deeper into crime and degradation in a small town at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Tennessee in the 1960s.

Scott Haze, James Franco and Tim Blake Nelson star in the film; check out the trailer below. If you can, give the novel a read – you won’t soon forget it.
