Jurassic World writer making the journey to Kong: Skull Island

Last Updated on July 22, 2021

How long do you think the journey is between Isla Nubar and Skull Island? Hopefully JURASSIC WORLD screenwriter Derek Connolly packed some Dramamine, because he's about to find out. Connolly, who co-wrote WORLD with director Colin Trevorrow (among others) is set to take on KONG: SKULL ISLAND.

He is being brought on to make some last-minute changes, as the casting has altered dramatically since the film's inception. Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons have bailed, clearing room for Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, and Corey Hawkins, as well as potential involvement from the legendary Samuel L. Jackson. As one might imagine, you just don't write Jackson like you do Keaton, so Connolly has his motherf***ing work cut out for him.

With previous drafts by Tony Gilroy, John Gatins and Max Borenstein, KONG: SKULL ISLAND is scheduled to rampage through theaters on March 10, 2017.
