NOES, Hex change dates

Last Updated on July 26, 2021

Warner Bros. has made some changes on their release slate, moving one film up considerably, and two others back some.

First up is JONAH HEX, the Josh Brolin-led horror-western from director Jimmy Hayward. Previously it held an August 6th, 2010 date. Well Warner’s is apparently quite confident in the film, because they’ve pushed it up all the way to JUNE 18th. That’s smack-dab in the middle of the busy season. It goes up against FOOTLOOSE and TOY STORY 3 – good counter-programming against those flicks, although TOY STORY is guaranteed to gobble up a ton of dough from all age groups, so let’s hope this plan doesn’t backfire.

Next is NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, which is getting tons of coverage at the moment. The move is minor, but perhaps significant: Warners has pushed the film back a couple of weeks, from APRIL 16th to APRIL 30th. The date is free of other flicks at the moment, but the week after brings IRON MAN 2. Basically, ELM STREET has one weekend to make a killing, after that, it’ll be a mere blip on the radar screen as the summer movie season begins and blasts away all memories of spring. (That said, if NOES turns out to be really good, this may not end up being the case.)

Lastly, a movie that might as well just head to DVD – THE FACTORY – has been moved again. It was sitting on an OCTOBER 22nd 2010 date, but is now opening on JANUARY 28th 2011. This is the Dark Castle-produced John Cusack serial killer thriller, in case you don’t recall. Don’t know about you, but I smell a stinker…

Megan Fox: Coming in June.
