Remember way back when we had a story on Guillermo del Toro’s next project? It was called PAN’S LABYRINTH, and it had wrapped just a couple weeks ago? Well, Ain’t It Cool News snagged some stills from the film for you viewing pleasure, and from the looks of things, it borders on the being very cool and the just plain bizarre. Ivana Baquero stars as Ofelia, a young girl that travels with her mother and adoptive father to a rural area up in northern Spain in 1944 after the rise of Fascism. The girl lives in an imaginary world of her own creation and faces the real world with much chagrin. Post-war Fascist repression is at its height in rural Spain and the girl must come to terms with that through a fable of her own.
