Seth Rogen talks the horror aspect of The Apocalypse; More cast?

Within the past few weeks I’ve given you all a couple updates on that Seth Rogen/Evan Goldberg directed horror/comedy coming our way, now called THE APOCALYPSE. Formerly titled JAY & SETH VS. THE APOCALYPSE, the flick saw a title change when Rogen and company finally started to move this one forward and decided that the flick would benefit more if it was more than just Rogen and Jay Baruchel stuck in a house.

Well the updates on THE APOCALYPSE keep on rolling today with some news from the guys over at Bloody-Disgusting. You see I’m sure a lot of you out there are wondering just how ‘horror’ themed this one is going to be considering the group behind it. Well you’re not the only ones because according to BD that very question was brought up to Rogen at a recent round-table interview at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. Here’s the funnyman’s response:

“We want to make a horror comedy. Some of our favorite movies are like ‘Army of Darkness’ and ‘Evil Dead’, sh*t like that. Movies like ‘The Mist’, we love the idea of these movies where people are boarded up in a house together and whatever’s out there is scary but being stuck with each other is far more miserable probably. … Exactly, which can be very difficult because a lot of actors don’t keep their fridges very well stocked. Yeah, I mean, it’s mostly based on the ‘Book of Revelations’. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That’s what we say as far as the apocalypse goes. It’s not just me and Jay now. We’ve recruited more of our random crew of gentleman so it might be Seth, Jay, Danny, Craig, James and Jonah Vs. The Apocalypse.”

Wait… so not only are we told that THE APOCALYPSE will indeed be horror-themed but there’s even some potential new cast members in the mix? Now we’ve already heard about Jonah Hill and James Franco… but ‘Danny and Craig?’ One can assume the ‘Danny’ in that is in reference to Danny McBride, which of course would be awesome, and the ‘Craig’ I’m guessing is Craig Robinson. Yeah we could definitely be in for something awesome here.

THE APOCALYPSE is set to start shooting early next year so I’m sure a lot more updates on this bad larry will be spilling our way soon.
