Simon Pegg & Edgar Wright open up a bit about The World’s End!

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Are you guys stoked for THE WORLD’S END? Well you should be! I mean… it’s coming from the trio of Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. How can you not be stoked for this thing?

With that being said, not a whole lot has been released about the film. We know the basic rundown for this one… and that’s about it. Thankfully Empire also wanted to know more about this one and recently caught up with Wright and Pegg. Surprisingly, the two were open to talking a bit about the mysterious film. Check out a bit of what Wright had to say:

“This is as much about where you grew up as the people you grew up with… it’s also very silly. I would say it’s darker, more personal and more silly.”

“Hard to say. It’s a sci-fi comedy. Social science-fiction. Look it up on Wikipedia and then bone up on John Christopher and John Wyndham.”

Pegg adds: “[It’s] a crawl through twelve pubs, culminating in the final one, which is The World’s End.”

And just for good measure, here’s the rundown: 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

So there you have it folks! A nice little update for THE WORLD’S END to help shed a little light on the project. With the film’s start date slated to be sometime this Fall, I’m sure we’ll be getting more updates on this one before the end of the year.
