Sony sets a release date for Resident Evil 6

It’s the franchise that just won’t die!

Sony/Screen Gems has set a debut date for the next chapter in the long-running RESIDENT EVIL franchise, scheduling the as-yet-untitled film to hit theaters September 12, 2014. No word yet on whether series director Paul W.S. Anderson would be returning to helm or series star (and ultra-hottie) Milla Jovovich would be back to kick more ass, but I’m sure it is reasonably safe to assume that they will.

Further, no details on the plot have been released. We last saw Alice (Jovovich) in RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION holed up at the White House and facing a rather large threat with Wesker (Shawn Roberts) by her side, so I’m sure this latest sequel will pick up right where that one left off.

The RESIDENT EVIL series has been a bumpy ride so far, filled with many ups-and-downs, and many feel it’s time to retire the franchise. The first film was a groovy good time, followed by the lackluster RESIDENT EVIL: APOCALYPSE, picking back up steam with RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION and AFTERLIFE, but seriously dropping the ball with RETRIBUTION, which many consider to be the nadir of the series. Hopefully Sony/Screen Gems can give the franchise a fitting swan song with this next installment.

Milla Jovovich makes me happy in my pantal area.
