The Walking Dead casting call heralds the arrival of a familiar character

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Tread carefully. The information below is currently a RUMOR that should be taken with a grain of salt. However, if it pans out, this could be a major SPOILER for the season 6 finale of THE WALKING DEAD.

Season 6 doesn’t even start airing on AMC until Sunday, October 11th, are you sure you already want to know who might show up sixteen episodes down the line?

If so, read on…

[ORIN] 30s to mid 40s. A physically imposing, charismatic, brutal, smart, ferocious, frightening, hilarious, inappropriate, oddly friendly, fun loving sociopath that is both a leader of men and a killer of men. He has both a practical and emotional intelligence, he’s a brilliant strategist, he’s pure, dangerous, murderous, often gleeful id, that still has both discipline and a code. And he has a temper that can vaporize people. He’s truly one of the strongest personalities ever…

The name on the casting call may be Orin, but that is said to just be a codename. To fans of the comic book, this is clearly a description of the villainous character Negan, first introduced in issue #100 of the comic and still lingering around, set to be featured on the cover of the upcoming issue #149.

The arrival of Negan could have a devastating impact not only on the characters we follow on the show, but on viewers as well. Negan totes a baseball bat wrapped in wire that he calls Lucille, and he has used it on a very popular character. I’m really hoping his first episode on the show won’t play out in exactly the same way as his first issue in the comic.

If information in this casting call is true, we’ll find out when the season 6 finale airs, probably sometime next March or April. In the meantime, we’ve got a whole season of build-up to watch.
