Ti West’s The Innkeepers & Greg Mottola’s Paul the latest to join SXSW

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Ladies and gentlemen we’ve got the South by Southwest Festival right around the corner so it’s about that time you get ready for lots of SXSW updates to come our way! With that being said let me skip a beat and let you all know about a couple of the latest films to join the annual festival.

Why beat around the bush any longer? The two latest genre romps to join the SXSW are Ti West’s THE INNKEEPERS and Greg Mottola’s PAUL. Natch! The two films join THE BEAVER, IT’S ABOUT YOU, SQUARE GROUPER and CONAN O’BRIEN CAN’T STOP in the latest batch of flicks announced for the fest. They join the previously announced SOURCE CODE. THE INNKEEPERS will be making it’s World Premiere come the SXSW while PAUL will be making it’s North American Premiere.

Coming from director Ti West, THE INNKEEPERS stars Sara Paxton (below), Kelly McGillis and Pat Healy.

THE INNKEEPERS centers on the last two clerks in a hundred-year-old haunted hotel in the last days before its closure as a few final strange guests come to stay.

Next up with Greg Mottola behind the camera we’ve got PAUL, which stars Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Jason Bateman, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Blythe Danner, Joe Lo Truglio, John Carroll Lynch, David Koechner, Sigourney Weaver and Seth Rogen as the titular ‘Paul.’

For the past 60 years, an alien named Paul has been hanging out at a top-secret military base. For reasons unknown, the space-traveling smart ass decides to escape the compound and hop on the first vehicle out of town—a rented RV containing Earthlings Graeme Willy and Clive Gollings.

Chased by federal agents and the fanatical father of a young woman that they accidentally kidnap, Graeme and Clive hatch a fumbling escape plan to return Paul to his mother ship. And as two nerds struggle to help, one little green man might just take his fellow outcasts from misfits to intergalactic heroes.

So there you have it folks! A couple more reason to get excited for the South by Southwest Film Festival. We’ll be keeping our eyes open for more genre updates to come at us from the fest so be sure to keep it here for that as it comes our way!
