The role of Kyle Reese in Terminator: Genesis is down to two actors

Then there were two…

It’s down to two actors for the role of Kyle Reese in TERMINATOR: GENESIS. Last month there were five candidates in competition which included Jai Courtney, Boyd Holbrook (HATFIELDS & MCCOYS, THE HOST), Tom Cocquerel, Wilson Bethel (HART OF DIXIE, INHERENT VICE), and Sam Reid (HATFIELDS & MCCOYS). Who are the final contenders?

Jai Courtney and Boyd Holbrook.

Courtney is the most familiar name with projects like A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD, JACK REACHER, and SPARTACUS under his belt. Holbrook is an up and comer on the rise who we saw as Cap Hatfield in HATFIELDS & MCCOYS, and BEHIND THE CANDLEABRA. The different between the two actors would be the routes they are taking in cinema. While we see Courtney getting his hands dirty in action; Holbrook has chosen the route of the indie darling with films like THE SKELETON TWINS, JANE GOT A GUN, and the next Terrence Malick flick.

They’ve gotta get the right guy for this since the role is rather meaty and will span two films. It’s reported that the film will end with the story of Skynet’s battle with the resistance that began with James Cameron’s two films.

If I have to chose here, I think I’d go with Holbrook.

TERMINATOR: GENESIS hits theaters on July 1, 2015.
