Guy Ritchie may have brought a new take to the realm of Sherlock Holmes with mixed results, but it's the 1960s television series, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., where he's really found his footing. Set against the backdrop of the Cold War, U.N.C.L.E centers on CIA agent Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill) and KGB agent Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer) as they are forced to put aside longstanding hostilities in order to stop a mysterious international criminal organization. The humor is tongue-in-cheek and the action aplenty in this 5-minute Comic Con trailer. Does it get much cooler than period spies? I doubt it!

Henry Cavill makes a damn fine Superman, but I'll be damned if he doesn't play one hell of a cool spy. As exciting as seeing and one of the Winklevoss twins square off, the real star for me here was Alicia Vikander. She did a hell of a job in Alex Garland's EX MACHINA and she looks to be playing a great character here as well. It's hard to tell how the action of U.N.C.L.E. will fare when compared to the likes of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE and SPECTRE, but it looks like the humor and time period will keep this one differentiated from the rest. Looks like a good time to me!

THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. will hit theaters on August 14, 2015.
