Adam Sandler signs up to do four more movies for Netflix

Adam Sandler Netflix

Are you ready for more Adam Sandler movies on Netflix? Because you're going to get them whether you like it or not. Several years ago the actor signed a four-picture deal with the streaming media provider, which has so far resulted in THE RIDICULOUS SIX and THE DO-OVER with SANDY WEXLER on the way. With just one more movie on the original contract, it seems that Netflix wants to stay in the Adam Sandler business. The streaming sevice recently announced that they will be financing and producing four more Adam Sandler movies.

In a statement, Adam Sandler said that he love's "working with Netflix and collaborating with them. I love how passionate they are about making movies and getting them out there for the whole world to see. They’ve made me feel like family and I can’t thank them enough for their support." Although the streaming service doesn't release its viewership numbers, THE RIDICULOUS SIX and THE DO-OVER are apparently Netflix's most-watched original films. Netflix's Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos added that "Adam Sandler one of the leading comedians in the film world, and his movies have proven to be extremely successful with our subscribers around the world. We are thrilled at the opportunity to extend our partnership with Adam and his entire team at Happy Madison and keep the world laughing."

Although Sandler's collaborations with Netflix haven't been my cup of tea so far, I'd imagine that there are more than a few fans out there who are pleased with this news. The next film on Adam Sandler's Netflix slate, SANDY WEXLER, will debut on April 14, 2017.

I'll be honest: I am very picky about what I watch in theaters. I do not like spending money on movies that are poorly reviewed or just look really bad. However, when that "bad" movie is on Netflix, I'll watch it, because I'm not paying specifically for that film, and therefore it doesn't feel like I'm wasting money on it. I don't think I've ever seen a Adam Sandler movie in the cinemas, but I'll watch it on Netflix, knowing full well it's not good. I couldn't get through twenty minutes of

I couldn't get through twenty minutes of The Ridiculous Six, but I found The Do-Over to be mostly good, though not without its tasteless humor. That movie actually had an interesting plot and some heart to go with it. So, let him make his movies for Netflix. I may watch it out of curiosity, and may like some of it, but I won't be paying for it in theaters. He'll get more of an audience through Netflix, and it's pretty easy to just ignore if you are not interested.

Lets find the positive spin here:
Appealing to the lowest common denominator with Sandler's shit will keep tasteless subscribers with a dumb sense of humor on bord, who's subscription fees in return pay for the quality stuff we enjoy. This would only be a bad thing if it did not make a profit for Netflix and took money out of better projects. Even if this hack was out of work today, he already made his fortune. Would you rather imagine him in early retirement enjoying his riches or rather use

Would you rather imagine him in early retirement enjoying his riches or rather use him as bait for a previously less tapped demographic for Netflix so he makes them more money for better shows and movies? It is not exactly redeeming his work but better than nothing.

Netflix's most watched original films? Compared with what? The only other one I know is Beast of No Nation, but obviously something like that isn't going to get as many views as a comedy.

Technically this is good news.

It means that he'll stay away from theaters.
