Genndy Tartakovsky's HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA proved to be a modest hit, bringing in $350 million worldwide. Before we get to see Tartakovsky's super cool Popeye adaptation, he'll first deliver a follow-up to the Adam Sandler vehicle. Written by Sandler and Robert Smigel, the sequel will follow Dracula as he attends an impromptu family get-together, where some secrets will undoubtedly come to light. I'm a little at odds with HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA, as Adam Sandler hasn't really done if or me in a while. On the other hand, Tartakovsky has an amazing eye for visual aesthetics, as he's proved with Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory and Samurai Jack. If he has to direct TRANSYLVANIA 2 in order to do that Popeye film, then I'll take it!
HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2 will be released on September 25, 2015.
