Black gets animated

The last time Jack Black voiced an animated film KUNG FU PANDA went on to be one of the 30 highest grossing movies of the decade ($631 million worldwide). While a KUNG FU sequel is in the works, Black is also developing a separate animated film he’s set up with Chris Meledandri (ICE AGE). While the film doesn’t yet have a title, it will center around “cryptozoology,” the study of creatures who seemingly don’t exist (like the Lochness Monster, Bigfoot, Chupacabra, etc.).

Black pitched the project with writer Jason Micallef and in addition to voicing the film, he’ll also act as producer alongside Meledandri who has a first-look deal at Universal Pictures. Black and Meledandri previously worked together on the original ICE AGE, where Black voiced Zeke. Meledandri’s first animated project an Universal, the upcoming DESPICABLE ME, stars Steve Carell, Jason Segel and Russell Brand. Black can be seen next in the Fox family adventure flick GULLIVER’S TRAVELS.
