Cinemacon 2016: Interviews with Suicide Squad’s David Ayer and cast!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

While at the Warner Bros. press line at Cinemacon, I had the opportunity to talk to some of the cast and crew of this summer's eagerly-anticipated SUICIDE SQUAD, the next entry in WB's DCEU slate, following on the heels of BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. Everyone had lots to say and were in great spirits about the film that continues to impress with each new tease we get.

First up is Jai Courtney who plays Captain Boomerang in the film. Jai discusses what it's like being in a highly-anticipated film like SUICIDE SQUAD, how he brought the character to life on the big screen (and why it's important it's played by an actual Aussie), and the varying moral code of each member of the Skwad.

Next up is Karen Fukuhara who plays Katana and looks every bit as lovely as she is dangerous in the film. Fukuhara talks about how she brought the character to the big screen, her sword and samurai training, how her character differs from the rest of the squad, her favorite memory with the cast, and she even shares her actual tattoo from Margot Robbie (don't worry, we got a pic as well).

Adam Beach plays Slipknot in the film and he was crazy excited to be a part of the film. Beach talks about being a lifelong comic fan, working with the rest of the cast, being part of the DCEU as a whole, how the trailers and TV spots haven't shown anything, the reshoots, and much, much more. He even gave me a Slipknot tattoo, which of course I put on. You don't ask questions.

Lastly, I talked to director David Ayer who talks about the excitement for the film, how he brought the group together to create the squad, the scariest part of making the movie, what Jared Leto's "gifts" to the squad were all about, connecting to the DCEU, and more!

Adam Beach gave me this Slipknot tattoo and I am indeed wearing now. It was the right thing to do.
