Could Three Musketeers casting impact Spider-Man?

Director Paul WS Anderson has lined up his cast for his 3D version of THE THREE MUSKETEERS and it may impact another big-budget 3D action flick. Ray Stevenson, Luke Evans and Matthew Macfadyen will star as the titular trio with Logan Lerman playing the main character, D’Artagnan. Lerman’s casting in the film, which is scheduled to begin this September, would seem to confirm the Sony Pictures denial of the HitFix report that said Lerman was almost 100% locked to star in SPIDER-MAN.

While it’s certainly possible Lerman could do both, that would mean filming on SPIDER-MAN wouldn’t begin until 2011 and would leave Lerman scant time to begin rehearsals and prep for the stunt work in the superhero reboot. It’ll also be interesting to see how the casting of this movie effects the rival THREE MUSKETEER film being developed at Warner Bros. by Doug Liman. Both films were scheduled to begin filming this fall.

Also set to star in MUSKETEERS are Christoph Waltz (who will play the villainous Cardinal Richelieu), Mads Mikkelsen, Milla Jovovich and Orlando Bloom. Summit Entertainment will be releasing the film in the US.
