Disaster strikes in the Deepwater Horizon trailer featuring Kurt Russell

On April 20th, 2010, one of the world’s largest man-made disasters occurred on the offshore drilling rig Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico. Directed by Peter Berg (LONE SURVIVOR, BATTLESHIP) and starring Kurt Russell and Mark Wahlberg, HORIZON looks to bring some real heart-pumping action sequences our way, which you can get a glimpse of with the new trailer!

Peter Berg is very much a Michael Bay-esque director for me, in that he brings a solid vision and intensity to his films, but the stories seem to be emotionally lacking. Still, if you know what you're going to get, that's not a bad thing. What I really want to see is if oil can contend with the will of Kurt Russell's mighty 'stache. The answer: Nnnnnno!

DEEPWATER HORIZON will open in theaters on September 30, 2016.

Don't like how they're turning a story of corporate malfeasance into a story about American heroes.

Meh......showed too much......even though we know how it ends....looks like another Wahlberg shirtless, screaming, dumbfounding look movie.

That looks far more interesting than I thought it would...

I really like his style. He hasn't put it all together yet, but he's got something that makes me care about his movies (even silly ones like Battleship). They're just really watchable and relatable.

Although I didn't think much of Battleship, I thought Lone Survivor was a fantastic movie. I think Peter Berg has a lot more to offer than what has been seen so far. Lone Survivor had great action sequences with real heart wrenching emotional moments especially with Ben Fosters character. The evidence of how great a film maker he can be is there, I think he just needs the right material.

This seems decent enough. I agree that Peter Berg has fallen into a niche where he's making these movies about everyday heroes, and has a real eye for creating great action sequences. But the films seem to be lacking in the heart/emotion front. I hope he's able to correct that with this movie as it seems like it will rely heavily on tapping into some emotional moments.
