First Look: Toby Kebbell behind the scenes on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited for DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. I really enjoyed the first film more than I thought I would. Matt Reeves on as helmer with a cast that includes Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo and Judy Greer is pretty inciting.

One actor I’m excited to see here Is Kebbell. Another example of a guy who needs better roles. He was great in Guy Ritchie’s ROCKNROLLA. What’s funny is that I always thought he’d be a great addition to the STAR WARS universe, and recently stumbled on the fact that he did voice overs for STAR WARS: THE OLD REPUBLIC back in 2011. They should really consider him, just saying.

Today, we have a look at the actor behind the scenes on the set of DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. Here we see him as alpha ape, Koba. Empire, who had the exclusive, sets the scene:

Riproaring his way through a scene at the Ape Village. Guns, as this photo indicates, will play a crucial role on both sides of the ape/human chasm this time out. Click below for a closer look.

Synopsis:

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES hits theaters on May 23, 2014.
