G.I. Clooney?

10.30.2007

George Clooney Burn After Reading George Clooney, spooked by the less than stellar box office performance of MICHAEL CLAYTON, is apparently on the hunt for another OCEAN'S-sized franchise to appease studio heads when he takes them that silent film about the Holocaust he's had simmering in his head for years. And it seems he thinks the upcoming G.I. JOE adaptation is just that franchise. He would, of course, be playing Duke, aka First Sergeant Conrad S. Hauser, the second-in-command of the G.I. Joe team and most popular character in the G.I. Joe universe. Clooney's succumbed once before to the dark side when he couldn't resist the allure of a certain nipple-suited crime fighter but will he now fall prey to a Stephen Sommers directed mindless blockbuster? With the Strike of Destruction inching closer and closer, just maybe.

okay, i'll be the one to say it

Clooney in [link] they start this thing, is too old to be Duke. Not only that, but he's too suave to pull off the raw dexterity of any of the main Joes. I would much rather see him in a superhero costume again, just with less over the type additions such as nipples and skittle colors.

My thoughts:

Clooney starring: Okay.
Sommers directing: Bad.

Why not Clooney? I'd think he would do a good job of it. Certainly looks the part, see Three Kings.

Anyway this Strike of Doom is
going to be as effective as the cab strikes here in NY.

I am going to buck the naysayers and insist this COULD be done right. especially in today's terrorist obsessed climate.

I say good for Clooney. Although i always figured him more as a Dr. Mindbender.

I'm confused. Since when did he care what his box office earnings were? And why is it Michael Clayton is still doing not too shabby on the top ten and being considered so inferior? Isn't there some comic book character Clooney would be perfect for that's not based on an out-of-date beloved children's Saturday morning cartoon?

Computer Says NO!

Computer Says No! Michael Clayton is doing very for a film on less than 3,000 screens, cost beans to make, gross 41 Million worldwide and counting. That means it's actually one of highest grossing films in release per screen.

Please dear jeebus do not let Clooney do this. This movie is going to be incredibly stupid and Clooney is simply better than that.
