Strike Back below!

You may have heard the news that Tim Burton had dropped out of directing Jim Carrey's RIPLEY'S BELIEVE IT OR NOT! for Paramount. They studio and Carrey were searching for a new director in hopes that they could get production going before the possible writer's strike next June. It looks like they may have found their man. FilmIck is reporting that Michel Gondry is currently in talks to replace Burton and direct RIPLEY. The move would reunite Gondry and Carrey who worked together rather spectacularly on ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND. RIPLEY would certainly be the biggest budget Gondry has ever worked with and it boggles the mind to think of what he could come up with. Gondry currently has the Jack Black comedy BE KIND REWIND on the way and recently directed Natalie Portman in a new Paul McCartney video. Carrey has yet to decide on his next film but other projects in the works include I LOVE YOU PHILLIP MORRIS and SOBER BUDDIES.

Spotless Mind was incredible. I was never a big fan of Tim Burton so seeing what Gondry can do will be awesome.
