Gondry & son collaborate

Oh, to be Michel Gondry’s son. Not only do you get sneak peaks at some of the most innovative films/commercials/music videos being made, not only do you get to meet people like Jim Carrey, Jack Black, and Bjork, but apparently you get to make a movie with your father too. That’s what’s happening with Michel Gondry’s first animated film, which will be co-written by his 16 year old son Paul, and will be based on his art as well.I’d say this Paul character has quite the future ahead of him.

Gondry recently told MTV that film will be “quite amazing,” and then went on to describe what it’s going to entail: “We’re translating our relationship into a futuristic story with a dictator and a rebel. He’s the dictator in the story [and] it will be based on [his] art.” I can’t wait to see what kind of animation this movie will contain, but I think the best preliminary word to describe it would be ‘non-traditional.’ Gondry has also been in talks to direct an adaptation of Rudy Rucker’s MASTER OF SPACE AND TIME.
