UPDATED: Release pushed back! Jurassic Park 4 now on hiatus; Colin Trevorrow still directing

UPDATE: Universal has confirmed that the relase date for JURASSIC PARK 4 has been pushed back, releasing the below statement.

In coordination with filmmakers, Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park 4 at a later date giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal’s beloved franchise.  We could not be more excited about the vision that Colin Trevorrow has created for this film, and we look forward to watching as he and the producers create another great chapter in this franchise's storied history.

It seems that JURASSIC PARK 4 is going through some growing pains. After a number of Tweets were dropped indicating that the film was dead (see below), an inside source contacted JurassicPark4-movie to give some more in-depth information, without getting into specifics of course. However, it seems that there is some creative restructuring going on with the production team, but fear not, as Colin Trevorrow is still attached as director.

Here's the info from JP4-movie:

According to our source, Jurassic Park 4 is still in production, just on a temporary hiatus while there is a "restructuring of the guard", if you will. Not to worry however, as we are told that Colin Trevorrow is still directing the film and adds that the film will deliver on an EPIC scale. It is this "EPIC" demand by the studio however, which has lead to the current situation. It seems Universal wants to pull out all the stops and go above and beyond what they had initially set their goals to be. This has lead to a number of disagreements between those working on the project and the Studio, which has resulted in an overhaul within the film's production crew. No specifics however.

It seems there's no issue with the script by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa, but rather with the development crew. We could speculate all day on what the creative differences with the studio may be, but it sounds consistent with typical production issues. Universal has a lot riding on JURASSIC PARK 4 and it seems like they've got their hands deep in the Kool-Aid. It's a double-edged sword, I suppose, because on one hand it's great that they're committed to seeing the film through, but it's going to play hell on the crew as a result.

It's likely this will all be sorted out rather quickly and the film will still be on target for it's expected release date, but don't be surprised if this cost's a delay, especially with such a close release date and no cast yet hired.

JURASSIC PARK 4 is currently slated for release on June 13, 2014.
