Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol gets a minimalist IMAX poster

12.13.2011

Who is going to see the IMAX screening of MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL this Friday? Who is going for the six-minute DARK KNIGHT RISES preview? They chose a great way to rope in film goers, didn't they?

Another cool thing about the IMAX release is this minimalist poster for the screening. Lately there's been more of a trend toward this style but they are usually only done for fun, never for actual marketing purposes. The poser was created by artist Matt Owen.

Oh and guess what? If you show up at one of the 250+ midnight screenings, this poster will be all yours. Do you need anymore of a reason to go? Well, that is if there's a location near you showing it. With the expansion, I'm sure there is.

Check out the poster below.

Meh

Great concept, poor execution (in my honest opinion).

I am still PUMPED to see this movie!! I still remember when I saw the first Mission Impossible in the theater and thinking, "I didn't know that Emilio Estevez was in this!!! AWESOME....awwwww"

I learned a very valuable lesson though, elevators can be super NASTY!!!

Reminds me

Of the minimalistic design that went with The Incredibles.

Oh hey, Brad Bird!

It is indeed a cool design

Not to continue correcting articles today, but this is actually not a poster. They're little promotional cards that the IMAX theaters will be handing out to people. So they're gonna be relatively small - not something you can hang on your wall - unless the plan has changed since earlier today.

On a related topic, I think it's interesting how much more of a promotional push this flick is getting than MI:3. I think it's a sign that the studio has faith - and the release pattern seems to

I think it's a sign that the studio has faith - and the release pattern seems to display trust in word-of-mouth, with the gradual rollout into theaters and whatnot. I think this has the potential to be the most successful of the franchise, or at least beat the first and third films.

New Mission Impossible movie, IMAX, free posters, and The Dark Knight Rises prologue? Sounds like maybe the best time at the theater all year.
