New Driller Killer?

I’m not sure I’d call Abel Ferrara’s horror flick THE DRILLER KILLER a “classic” (surely not in the stratum of his later KING OF NEW YORK), but someone apparently liked it enough to… well, remake it.

Yep, British filmmaker Andrew Jones (THE FERAL GENERATION) is updating the 1979 exploitation flick about a struggling artist (played by Ferrara himself) who spends his nights killing random vagrants with a power drill. But hey, who hasn’t hunted the homeless for their own amusement? I make it a monthly event, myself.

Jones, who hadn’t even been conceived yet when Ferrara’s original was soaking the streets of New York, will reportedly turn it into more of a “psychological thriller” set in London, and he has a budget of around $5 million to do it.

Personally, I’m waiting for the remake of Ms. 45.
