New Elm Street banner puts me to sleep

I don’t know what it is about the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET posters (click here to see the others) but they’ve been so underwhelming considering the massive amounts of imagery that the ELM STREET series evokes. I understand the need to push the film based on the face of Freddy Krueger but leave that to the teaser poster.

Today we get a new banner from the film and while it tries a bit harder to amp up the atmosphere, it’s still a study in cut and paste. Freddy’s glove seems overly bright and shiny and the girl on the floor…? Is she melting? Sinking? And what’s going on with her face? (Click the image to zoom in to see what I mean.) These are all not indicators that the movie sucks, I just wish there was a little bit more creativity going on with these posters. Have some fun with it! Ah well. Check out the new banner below.
