Reiner in Shadows

When you hear the words "action-adventure", you may not immediately think of Rob Reiner, who's perhaps best known for his portrayal of "Meathead" on "ALL IN THE FAMILY" and his directing work on the legendary mockumentary THIS IS SPINAL TAP and romcoms like WHEN HARRY MET SALLY.

But Reiner is getting into the chair for the unfortunately titled BOOK OF SHADOWS (which is unrelated to the ill-received BLAIR WITCH sequel of the same name). The story, from Reiner and writer Zoe Green, is about a "young man who must embark on the perilous journey of first love and face many trials of maturity while on the dangerous quest to close a mythical tome called 'Book of Shadows' in order to restore balance to the world."

Reiner has more recently been sticking with "dramedy" fare like THE BUCKET LIST and RUMOR HAS IT, and might superficially seem like a mismatch for this material, but let's keep in mind that he's also responsible for one of the finest fantasy-adventures committed to film -- THE PRINCESS BRIDE. Which, coincidentally, also revolved around a book...

Extra Tidbit: Reiner is one of the few directors to successfully adapt the work of Stephen King (financially and creatively) with STAND BY ME and MISERY.
