Superman to make an appearance on CBS' Supergirl series

Supergirl Superman

CBS has put out a casting call for their Supergirl series starring Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El, and apparently the network is seeking "a body double for a DC comic superhero" who must be "5’11 or taller and be square jawed and have a ripped physique." Based on that description the body double could be for any number of DC comic book characters, however the casting call also states that they want applicants to use "Superman" in the subject line.

So what can this casting call tell us about how Superman will be used on the series? Supes will probably be shown from a distance or from his squared jaw down, and it also more than likely won't be a huge role. I know Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns said DC "will not be integrating the film and television universes," but I think it would be a lot cooler if Henry Cavill appeared on Supergirl as the Man of Steel.

However, Johns has also said DC is taking a different approach compared to what Marvel is doing with their movies and TV series, and referred to it as a multiverse, so I do believe there's still a chance that (for example) Ezra Miller's The Flash could one day team-up with the Grant Gustin version from the CW show, either on the small or big screen. Do you think Superman making an appearance on Supergirl is a good idea, or do you think it will just complicate things since it will have to explained why he's not around more on the series?

Remember the stinger at the end of the first episode of "The Flash"? Newspaper headline says "FLASH MISSING, DISAPPEARS IN CRISIS." I know some people have debunked the potential for a "Crisis" storyline between TV/Movies, but if DC/WB could figure it out, that would be something else.

"Body double"

"Body double" means they have already cast Superman. "Body double" means Superman will appear on the series as someone who flies in, helps out and flies away. "Body double" means somebody who looks like Cavill.

Seems like a wasted opportunity

DC may not want to have any crossover between their TV properties and their films, but giving Henry Cavill a cameo in a new Supergirl series would be a big boost during the ratings sweeps.

On a rating point of view, you're probably right.
But with this multiverse excuse for not mixing DCCU and DCTVU, it would probably be more confusing for the average viewer, than anything.

With the character Supergirl, the thing most people would ask was where is Superman? So have him appear at the beginning as Supergirl sets off on her own and says she wants to make a name for herself and show she is worthy of the S.

I'm still hoping this universe, assuming it'll be part of Arrow and Flash, can keep Superman and Batman out of it...rather than leaving it out there in the hope that one day the TV people will be allowed to use them. As it is, given the number of times we've seen media coverage of the Arrow on the show...and with Iris' coverage of the Flash, it just wouldn't make any sense that no one has mentioned the existence of a vigilante like the Arrow in Gotham or in Flash's case, the existence of

As for the multiverse angle, I'd be down with that because it would then allow certain well known characters to come out from nowhere.

Now THAT'S one great idea, Solo... After all he almost was Big Blue, more than once. And now that White Collar is finished, there wouldn't be any scheduling conflict for him, to pop in, from time to time...
He could 'jump in cameo' in the DCTVU...
