Troy Duffy gives us a title and story for Boondock Saints 3

Aug. 29, 2014by: Sean Wist

Fans of THE BOONDOCK SAINTS should have little fear that their trilogy wont' be closed out, as writer/director Troy Duffy recently dropped a title for it; BOONDOCK SAINTS 3: LEGION. According to Flickering Myth, the story will focus on "legions of people taking the law into their own hands and following in the footsteps of the now famous brothers from Ireland."

Duffy had this to say regarding the third film:

Its my fault. Its taken awhileits cause I want to get it right.

The second film was held up because of all sorts of legal (and director) issues, arriving a full 10 years after the first. I'm not holding my breath to get part 3 anytime soon (or ever, for that matter) but from the sound of it, it'll come eventually. If anything Norman Reedus' success on The Walking Dead will help bring this to fruition much faster, since he is a name. Time will tell.

Just make it stop.

The first one was a really fun low budget diamond in the rough. The second one was a shitty cash grab. Please stop.

the 2nd one was too bad to come back from. Sorry, I love the first one, still watch it and quote from it all the time. The sequel was forgettable.

If he ever made a non-Boondock Saints movie I'd know how to feel about this. I skipped the second one, but the first movie didn't do much for me. It felt kind of like a Death Wish wannabe. The toilet scene was cool, and I LOVED Willem Dafoe in that movie, and his character. When a director says he wants to get it "right" these days, I roll my eyes. There was a time when that meant something to me. Now it just sounds pretentious. I get that it's your baby Troy, but just be glad you're making

Part 1 was one of the most ridiculous movies I have ever seen. I was stunned when they came out with a sequel. Now there's talk of pt 3?

Oi Vey *facepalm*

Considering Tarantino had really only written/directed (combo) 2 movies (3 if you consider Jackie Brown which was not his own material) You would be HARD pressed to call it a "Tarantino Rip off" if it came out NOW!! I would see your point. But at this point, I dont think you know what you are talking about.

@The_ConMan

After Reservoir Dogs & Pulp Fiction, people were imitating Tarantino like crazy. Pulp Fiction changed the landscape of "independent filmmaking". Every wannabe filmmaker wanted to be him and most emulated him. The 90s were his heyday. He will never be as influential now as he was then. And this was long before Jackie Brown.

And yes, when Boondock Saints came out in 1999, many critics labeled it a Tarantino knockoff. Variety's original review from 2000 referred to it as "A

Overnight didn't keep a Boondock sequel from happening.

No. Just no.

First was so horrible. I remember seeing it and being almost insulted that it was deemed a "cult status" movie. Never attempted watching the 2nd. Pass.

I was never big on the first one, but my brother and his friends were OBSESSED circa 2005-ish while in college. So I was forced to watch Boondocks like once a month with him. It grew on me, even though as a true film geek I saw all its glaring flaws. Then the sequel came and my non-geek brother GEEKED THE FUCK OUT and dragged me to it. Upon conclusion his response was (paraphrased): "That was the worst movie I have ever seen. I think the first one is actually shitty too, now that I think about

Still haven't even seen the first sequel. Did not really intrigue me all that much. I'll probably get some backlash but Boondock Saints is one of those movies that was really over-hyped for me before I actually saw it. When I finally did I was pretty underwhelmed by it all. Pushing this "franchise" beyond the first movie never really mattered.

I actually love them both and thought 2 was a fantastic way to push the story forward while still going back into the past enough to add to the mystique of the characters and their mission. I'd love to see 3 ASAP!

2 had some of the worst dialogue ever put in a movie! It was a steaming pile of shit! Well you'll be able to see part 3 right away when it hits DVD cuz it will never play in a theater.

We'll see...

I absolutely loved the first one... until I saw the sequel. It's rare that a sequel can be so bad it makes me hate the original.

I might check out the third one, but my expectations are quite low.

I just hope they bring Willem Dafoe back again for the third film in a much bigger role then he had in the second film.

Big fan of the Boondock Saints and very much looking forward to seeing how they end the saga.
