Universal running a Whorehouse

Universal Pictures is looking to remake the classic early-80s musical THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS and has hired LEGALLY BLONDE writers Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith to write the script. The original 1982 film starred Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton and was sort of awesome in a way that only a musical about whores starring Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton would be. In the film, Reynolds starred as a sheriff (obvs) who teamed up with a local madam to stop a bible thumper from shutting down the local house of ill repute.

The new version would be contemporized to not take place in the 80s (sad face) but will still contain a musical element. Whether it will reprise some of the famous songs from the original film, like the classic “I Will Always Love You” (which was repurposed by Whitney Houston for her shitty film THE BODYGUARD), remains to be seen.

Now I’m just gonna throw this out there as a suggestion. I’m gonna put it out there; if you like it, you can take it, if you don’t, send it right back. Norm McDonald as Burt Reynolds in this movie. Let’s make it happen!
