Zac Efron brings his DJ game to crowds in the We Are Your Friends trailer

Now here's a movie I knew absolutely nothing about and a trailer that makes it look damn entertaining! Set in the world of electronic music and Hollywood nightlife (because that's totally a world), an aspiring 23-year-old DJ named Cole (Zac Efron) spends his days scheming with his childhood friends and his nights working on the one track that will set the world on fire. All of this changes when he meets a charismatic but damaged older DJ named James (Wes Bentley), who takes him under his wing. You can get a taste of what the flick has to offer with the first trailer below.

Okay, so it's ROCKY set in the DJ world. Still, I'm digging the DOGTOWN visual aesthetic and maybe it's just me, but that Efron character is growing on me. I'd say his stint in NEIGHBORS helped pave the way for that. I always appreciate an actor who's not afraid to make fun of himself. If this film can keep the energy up and the characters genuine, maybe we'll have something fun to experience in a few months. I'm not saying it's going to be WHIPLASH or anything, but we can do way worse. On a totally unrelated note, POLTERGEIST hits theaters this weekend...

WE ARE YOUR FRIENDS will hit theaters on August 28, 2015.

Do you know how I know how half the posters here are in their late 30s or older

"Get a job"

with comments like that, it means you forgot what it meant to be young and to have dreams and trying to pursue them. It means you are in a dead end job. Sure it may pay well but you guys are in your rutt.

This looks enjoyable and fun.

Count me in the minority(?) who thinks this looks interesting. Sure, it's not MY world. Or even my music. But at least this movie isn't trying to look like every other Young Kids With a Dream movie out now.

And I'm still surprised how Wes Bentley dragged himself out of post-American Beauty teen-movie hell to at least be counted in some pretty big tentpole movies in recent years.
