New sneak peek for J.J. Abrams’ and Alfonso Cuaron’s TV series Believe is pretty convincing

J.J. Abrams has had great success with television, from series’ like Felicity to Alias to Lost to Fringe to Revolution to Almost Human and beyond. His next venture to the small screen is a collaboration with GRAVITY director Alfonso Cuaron for Believe, a sci-fi drama that stars Delroy Lindo, Jake McLaughlin, Jamie Chung, Rob Morgan, and Johnny Sequoyah. The pilot episode is directed by Cuaron, which adds some serious cinematic clout and this new sneak peek trailer for the series is a pretty convincing argument that Abrams and co. may have done it again.

Take a look:

Show synopsis:

Believe is about an unlikely relationship between a gifted young girl and a man sprung from prison who has been tasked with protecting her from the evil elements that hunt her power.

With all that said, the problem is that this is a show that hinges on a old/young dynamic and that’s always a rocky boat. The latest series to tip over that hinged on that premise was Kiefer Sutherland‘s Touch, which was eventually cancelled, putting Sutherland back in the boots of his more successful former show, 24. Believe has potential though, and with Abrams, Cuaron, and Delroy Lindo‘s voice there are at least a few reasons to check out the first episode.

Believe debuts on Monday, March 10, 2014 after The Voice on NBC.
