Last Updated on July 31, 2021

Word has come down the line today that actor Vince Vaughn will be joining the already star-studded cast of FIGHTING WITH MY FAMILY, a comedy-drama recently snagged in the Berlin market deal with MGM. Written and directed by The Office alum Stephen Merchant, the film stars Dwayne Johnson (who is developing the feature with Flim4, in addition to producing under his Seven Bucks Production label), Lena Heady, and Nick Frost

News of the casting came via Dwayne Johnson's personal Instagram account when the mega-star posted the following:

Here, let me make those comments a bit more legible for you,

"Our @sevenbucksprod is excited to welcome Vince Vaughn to our #FightingWithMyFamily cast. He loved the script and sank his teeth into it embodying this character. He's playing a man who I know all too well and those of you who follow wrestling history know well too.
The 80's wrestling star who squandered his money and opportunities because he didn't have the capacity to handle his fame. One bad decision after another, but these days he owns his past actions and does everything he can to give back to the wrestling business he loves.
Vince has been a buddy of mine for years and I'm fired up to see what he brings to this role. I grew up in and love this wild, crazy and unpredictable world of pro wrestling. Our little passion project is coming together nicely."

The film is based on the true-life story of WWE super star Paige and her family of professional wrestlers. Inspired by the Channel 4 British documentary The Wrestlers: Fighting with my Family, up-and-coming actress Florence Pugh will assume the role of Paige, while Jack Lowden will portray her brother, Zak, in the picture.

For more about the upcoming film, here's a short synopsis detailing the story:

The film follows the story of reformed gangster and former wrestler Ricky, his wife Julia, daughter Saraya and son Zak, who make a living performing in tiny venues across the country. Ricky and Julia want a better life for their children, and when brother and sister get the chance to audition for the WWE, it seems the family dream is coming true and all their troubles will be solved. However, Saraya and Zak are about to learn that becoming a WWE superstar demands more than they ever imagined possible as athletes and siblings.

In the meantimeyou can catch Vince Vaughn in Mel Gibson's Best Picture-nominated war drama HACKSAW RIDGE, in select theaters now. Furthermore, Dwyane Johnson has got a whole mess of movies hitting theaters in the foreseeable future, including BAYWATCH, which opens on May 26, 2017!
