Ben Affleck and Matt Damon to produce movie adaptation of DC Comics Sleeper

Aside from wearing the batsuit, Ben Affleck will take part in another comic property. The actor has boarded the long in-development adaptation of DC Comics/Wildstorm’s SLEEPER.

Affleck and Matt Damon will partner on the project as producers. The 2003 comic was written by Ed Brubaker with art from Sean Phillips. The story is set, “noir universe where a few people are spontaneously developing superpowers — follows Holden Carver, a man who can absorb pain and pass it on to others, as he infiltrates a criminal organization on behalf of a law enforcement agency. His allegiances come into question, especially when he falls for the alluring killer, Miss Misery.”

Warner Bros. has hired the team of Shawn Ryan (THE SHIELD) and David Wiener to pen the script.

The project has been floating around for quite some time. Back in 2008, Sam Raimi was set to produce with partner Josh Donen under their Stars Road banner. Tom Cruise was attached to take the lead around that time. Wonder who they will get to direct on this one.
