Last Updated on July 30, 2021

After unveiling a batch of First Look images for their latest take on THE INVISIBLE MAN, Universal Pictures has unleashed a trailer that has the classic movie monster concept looking more terrifying than ever. The film is written and directed by Leigh Whannell (SAW, UPGRADE) and stars Elisabeth Moss, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Aldis Hodge, and Storm Reid.

Elisabeth Moss plays Cecilia Kass in THE INVISIBLE MAN, a woman who is trapped in a violent, controlling relationship with a wealthy and brilliant scientist (Oliver Jackson-Cohen). After escaping with the help of her sister (Harriet Dyer), their childhood friend (Aldis Hodge), and his teenage daughter (Storm Reid), Cecilia learns that her ex has killed himself, but she begins to suspect that his death was a hoax when a series of eerie coincidences threatens the lives of those she loves.

It goes without saying that knowing the face of your own killer can be emotionally scarring beyond reason, but what happens when the person wielding the knife is invisible to the naked eye? Moreover, what are you to do when hoping to convince others that the threat is real, and not just a figment of your overactive and potentially crippled imagination? You'd have no choice but to obtain hard proof of your life-threatening situation, a task that's easier said than done.

Me? I'd get some heat vision goggles, a paintball gun, and hunt that wraithlike lunatic down like the dog they are. Would I survive? Probably not, but at least I'd go down swinging.

The official synopsis for THE INVISIBLE MAN:

What you can’t see can hurt you. Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss (Us, Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale) stars in a terrifying modern tale of obsession inspired by Universal’s classic monster character.

Trapped in a violent, controlling relationship with a wealthy and brilliant scientist, Cecilia Kass (Moss) escapes in the dead of night and disappears into hiding, aided by her sister (Harriet Dyer, NBC’s The InBetween), their childhood friend (Aldis Hodge, Straight Outta Compton) and his teenage daughter (Storm Reid, HBO’s Euphoria).

But when Cecilia’s abusive ex (Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House) commits suicide and leaves her a generous portion of his vast fortune, Cecilia suspects his death was a hoax. As a series of eerie coincidences turns lethal, threatening the lives of those she loves, Cecilia’s sanity begins to unravel as she desperately tries to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see.

THE INVISIBLE MAN is set to appear in theaters on February 28, 2020.
