Dune: What Did You Think?

It’s finally here! Today, Denis Villeneuve’s wildly ambitious feature version of Frank Herbert’s Dune finally hits theatres (and HBO Max). So while we’ve been hyping it up for months now, audiences all over North America will finally get to see it for themselves, and you, dear reader, can let us know what you think. Were we right to be so excited?

To recap, JimmyO game it a rare 10/10, while I was slightly more reserved with a still very strong 9/10. Over on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has scored a solid 83%, but the audience score is way higher – 93%. I suppose some critics were a touch hard to please at the various film festivals, but audiences seem to love it.

For the record, here at JoBlo, we still love David Lynch’s version of Dune, and Villeneuve himself told me in an interview that he personally likes the film too (more on that next week as we continue our Dune coverage). One of our most popular WTF episodes ever was about David Lynch’s Dune – check it out below!

So the question remains, what did you all think of Dune? Did it live up to your expectations? How was Timothee Chalamet as Paul Atreides? Was I right in my review when I said Jason Momoa almost steals the film? Did you dig Hans Zimmer’s crazy score? And how pumped are you for the idea of Dune Part 2? It has to happen, right? The folks at WB seem keen on it.

In the meantime, check out some of the interviews we did for the film below!
