It’s been a long wait, but Matt Reeves has finally begun production on The Batman Part II and shared the first look on social media. There’s not much to see, but it does feature a mysterious body lying on a slab.

Who is Sebastian Stan Playing?

It’s long been assumed that Stan will be playing Harvey Dent (aka Two-Face) in the sequel, but a recent rumour from Jeff Sneider has claimed that he will actually be playing Victor Zsasz. Instead, Sneider claims that Brian Tyree Henry will actually be the one playing Two-Face. I suppose we’ll find out for sure in time.

What We Know About The Batman Part II

The Batman Part II will once again find Robert Pattinson suiting up as Batman, with the rest of the cast including Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, Charles Dance, Jayme Lawson, Brian Tyree Henry, Sebastian Koch, and Gil Perez-Abraham.

Farrell has read the script for the sequel and was very moved. “I read the script, and it’s just brilliant,” he said. “My perspective is that it’s a work of contemporary genre brilliance. It really is. Matt toils so hard, and he puts himself under such pressure. And he realizes what this character and this world mean to so many people, and he knows it’s been around for decades; he’s the man for the job. He really is. He’s a brilliant filmmaker. The thing about Matt, as well, is that, as commercially minded as he is, he’s also so intellectually rigorous.

He continued, “This film, like the first one, works on multiple levels, both as pure entertainment and as an investigation into the psychology of the characters of Bruce Wayne and Batman. It’s really, really moving. I found myself very emotionally moved while I was reading it.

Details on the sequel are sparse, but Reeves has previously teased that the villain will be one who hasn’t been featured in a movie before. “I never wanted to lose Rob at the centre of these stories, so that is what we really set our aim on,” he said. “Picking the right villain that digs into what that does and goes into his past and his life, that was what drove that discussion. We’re super excited about it, and I will say, it’s never really been done in a movie before.

The Batman Part II will hit theaters on October 1st, 2027
